West Wichita Toastmasters

Greetings!

West Wichita Toastmasters enthusiastically invite you to join us and become a TOASTMASTER!

You may ask, “What is Toastmasters?”  Well, a brief history may be helpful to answer your question.

Toastmasters International History:

In October 1924, a group of men assembled by Dr. Ralph C. Smedley met in the basement of the YMCA in Santa Ana, California and formed a club “to afford practice and training in the art of public speaking and in presiding over meetings, and to promote sociability and good fellowship among its members.”  The group took the name, “Toastmasters.”  Since its beginnings, Toastmasters has become known internationally and more than four million men and women have benefited from the organization’s communication and leadership programs.

West Wichita Club History:

The West Wichita Toastmasters Club was formed in 1976 and meets in Star Lumber’s Training Center.  The club has earned the annual President's Distinguished Club Award every year since 2006.  The club is proud to have three current members who have set themselves apart by each winning a District 22 (Kansas and Western Missouri) speech contest.  In addition, three current members have earned the Distinguished Toastmaster Award, the capstone award in Toastmasters.  As a new member, you'll profit from your association with these seasoned Toastmasters!

Club Mission:

To promote competent communication and leadership among club members.

Club Objectives:

The reasons people become associated with Toastmasters International and become a Toastmaster are varied.  Some become members perhaps, because their ‘Boss’ says they need to, or others for personal enrichment.  No matter whether the ‘Boss’ says to join or not, you've no doubt been in a situation where you wanted to say something but did not know how to get your thoughts in order.  Of course, and everyone has at some time in their life.  Our goal is to make those moments opportunities for you to shine.

Club Benefits:

A major benefit of joining Toastmasters is acquiring the tools to accomplish your dreams.  Another advantage is the self-confidence you will gain by becoming a member of our West Wichita Toastmasters Club.  Also, lasting ‘Friendships’ coupled with ‘Encouragement’ are made and experienced in this group.  Through help from everyone in our club, you will be able to speak anywhere, before anyone, or in any situation.  You will know your skills have been sharpened to effectively, verbally, communicate your thoughts.

Come meet with us and join our club!
